President’s Announcement of GAMMA European Championship 2026

Dear Presidents, Federations and Members of the GAMMA Family 

It is with great honour and sincere satisfaction that I officially announce that Athens, Greece, will host the GAMMA European Championship 2026, which will take place from 28 April to 3 May 2026. 

This decision follows our recent online General Meeting with all National Federation Presidents, where five candidate countries initially expressed their interest in organising the Championship: Turkey, Romania, Spain, Croatia and Greece. During the meeting, Turkey, Romania and Spain respectfully withdrew their candidacies, leaving Croatia and Greece as the final candidates. Two days later, the Croatian Federation also officially informed us of the withdrawal of its candidacy. 

From that moment, GAMMA acted immediately and responsibly in order to secure the continuity and quality of the event. In close cooperation with the Minister of Sports of Greece, we identified a new, modern and fully suitable indoor arena capable of hosting an international championship of the highest standards. 

We are pleased to confirm that GAMMA has just now received all necessary official approvals and authorisations, including: Official permission from the Greek General Secretariat of Sports, Authorisation from the Olympic Athletic Centre of Athens (OAKA), Approval from the recognised Official Greek MMA Federation and a licence from the Municipality authorities for the organisation of the Championship. 

These approvals ensure that the GAMMA European Championship 2026 will be conducted under full institutional legitimacy, professional governance and operational excellence, aligned with international sporting standards and the values of the Olympic Movement. 

Athens, the historic birthplace of the Olympic ideals, will welcome our European MMA community in a Championship dedicated to unity, athlete welfare, fair play and the continuous development of our sport. 

We warmly invite all National Federations to begin their preparations and to join us in this important milestone for the future of GAMMA and European MMA. Together, we move forward united in vision and strong in purpose.
